Lucca - Places to visit
Lucca makes an excellent base for exploring the many treasures of Tuscany. Well connected by both road and rail, it offers easy access to Pisa—with its world-famous Leaning Tower—and to Florence, celebrated for its art, history, and culture.
The beautiful Versilia coast is also nearby, with seaside towns such as Lido di Camaiore, Viareggio, and Forte dei Marmi providing the perfect setting for a relaxing day by the sea. In the surrounding area, you’ll find plenty of fascinating places to visit, including the charming towns of Barga and Pietrasanta, and Fantiscritti -the source of the renowned Carrara marble and a filming location for the James Bond movie Quantum of Solace. For a memorable day trip, you could also venture to the Cinque Terre, where a boat ride along the coast reveals five picturesque villages tucked into the cliffs, some accessible only from the sea.
