Leaning Tower of Pisa

Pisa sits on the banks of the River Arno and hosts abundant historic and artistic monuments, with narrow streets which open onto picturesque little squares, the Piazza dei Cavalieri being one. The Piazza dei Miracoli consists of the world famous Leaning Tower, the Cathedral, the Baptistry and the Monumental Churchyard and many little market stalls.

Pisa is not only famous for its Leaning Tower but its various churches and medieval buildings, together with a very reputable University with an excellent track record in the medical field.

The Walls
It’s now possible to enjoy a 3 km walk along the ancient city walls of Pisa, stretching from the River Arno at Piazzetta del Rosso to the Piazza dei Miracoli, home to the famous Leaning Tower. Construction of the walls began in 1154 in the area north of the Arno, and remarkably, they remain in excellent condition today. Strolling along this elevated pathway offers a unique perspective of the city and breathtaking views over the Piazza dei Miracoli from above.
