Sardinia - The Best Beaches & Places to Visit
Puntaldia is surrounded by the finest white sandy beaches on the island of Sardinia, one of which being La Cinta, a spectacular 3km long beach with crystal clear turquoise waters, and within walking distance of the apartments. A short drive north is the magnificent headland of Capo Coda Cavallo, with a beautiful beach, and fantastic views over the mystical islands of Tavolara and Molara from one of the terrace cafes set into the hillside.
With so many wonderful beaches, you could visit a different one every day.
Sardinia - a paradise on Earth!
Have a look at this You Tube video with incredible images of Sardinia's amazing coastline:
Cala Luna beach, south of Cala Gonone in Sardinia, is a crescent of white sand backed by high limestone cliffs, considered to be in the top 20 beaches in Europe as described in the Sunday Times Travel of January 17th 2010.
Lively little town about 10 minutes drive down the coast, restaurants, pizzerias, cafe bars and many little shops.
COSTA SMERALDA - PORTO CERVO
Porto Cervo is where it all began as far as tourism is concerned for Sardinia. The story goes that the Agha Khan was sailing around the Med (as you do) when he spotted this stretch of incredible coastline. He stopped, came ashore and decided to build the now famous port.
The port is the region's nominal capital and is a maze of designer shops, swanky bars and Moorish-style architecture.
The streets are like a roll-call of the finest designers: Gucci, Armani, Prada and Versace....
However the true attraction of this area, accessible and free to all, are the beaches which are amongst the finest in the world.First on the list would have to be Spiaggia Liscia Ruia, which is the region's largest, meaning you're guaranteed some towel space. It's water is also perhaps the clearest, and you can spend many hours snorkelling and swimming close to the floating mansions (beautiful yachts).
Next on the list would be the twin beaches of Capriccioli. The setting is lovely but their popularity means you'll need to be up early to park your car and the bay can feel crowded. Further up the coast lies the Spiaggia Romazzino, backed by rosemary bushes with the Spiaggia Pevero completing the set of Europe's finest beaches.
In our opinion the best time to visit would be June or September avoiding the excessive prices of peak season but if you are on the lookout for celebs then it would have to be August. People watching season in full flight!
Not to be missed - Spectacular views from the little terrace over the bay and of the mystical islands of Tavolara and Molara. Sit and relax on the terrace or walk down to the beach.
Restaurant - Punta Est: Tel No: +39 0784 834295 - Excellent seafood with a spectacular view
TAVOLARA & MOLARA
Tavolara is a mountain of limestone rising to a height of 500m (1640ft). The eastern side is a military zone and is inaccessible, but on the area called the Spalmatore di Terra there are beaches, a small harbour, a couple of restaurants and a few houses.
Boat trips may be taken to these islands, which is now a protected marine area.
