There are many interesting and beautiful places to visit in and around the Lucca area e.g. Fantiscritti, where some scenes from the Bond film "Quantum of Solace" were filmed. Eco del Mare, a private beach, set in a beautiful cove. The Cinque Terre is another great trip, take a boat along the coast from where you can see 5 little towns tucked into the coastline, some of which only accessible by sea.
